There is no comfort in the truth

But the author cannot tolerate a lie🙂

Anyways, hi and welcome to another episode of my tumultuous life (also a pretty exciting life😂). Today, we will be talking about red flags, one in particular, Lying.

Lying is a deal breaker for me, a huge deal breaker. It does not matter whether you’re my friend or a lover, do not lie to me. Now, apart from lying, there is one other thing that really sets me off and that is ‘lying to me as if I am an idiot’ Oh God, that is really infuriating. It’s bad enough that you’re a liar liar, pants on fire but unintelligent lies??? Like, you don’t even bother to make an effort to construct a proper lie? 😡. That’s not the point of this newsletter anyways.

As much as lying is a deal breaker, sometimes I wonder if I do too much. Referring to a George Micheal’s lyric in the popular song Careless whisper: ‘There is no comfort in the truth, pain is all you’ll find’.

And whew, this is true. You’ll find pain oh but if you’re lucky enough, you’ll also find clarity.

I recently ended a relationship and it has been really funny because anytime someone asks me ‘oh, what happened? What did he do?’ I can’t give a definite answer. So I did some thinking because I was about to blame myself for overreacting. I had to find a tether, a definite cause of the situation. Now I like thinking under the influence of music (it used to be booze but I don’t know what’s wrong this year, it seems as if I’ve outgrown the use of Alcohol) so I was listening to this song and there it was : Lying. The relationship ended as a result of unintelligent lies. There were other factors in play such as misogyny but the lies really did it in. And it was not just lies, they were unintelligent lies which is ironic because this person knows how smart I am (not to brag🤭) so he knew the lies won’t fly at all. They were simple simple small lies that even when found out, some people might think it’s not worth apologizing for but it makes my skin crawl. But again, there is no comfort in the truth, however I got clarity.

Some people play it safe, they don’t snoop or try to find out lies. It’s okay to do that but ask yourself, will the truth kill you? It might but at least you’ll die knowing the truth and you will come back to haunt the liar. There was a time I snooped on a potential love interest and found out that he was owing a loan app and corny man he is, he dropped his other number as his guarantor (mom) and they sent a picture to the other number cur$ing him and his mom, he pretended as if it was his mum chatting and was apologizing🫠. Did I drop him as a love interest after that? No but to be fair, I really have bad taste in men😔 (if I like you, check yourself very well oh😂).
